In Q1 of 2024, global shipments of high-end OLED TVs reached 1.2 million units, marking an increase of 6.4% YoY. Concurrently, the mid-size OLED monitors market has experienced explosive growth. According to research by industry organization TrendForce, shipments of OLED monitors in Q1 of 2024 are estimated to be around 200,000 units, with a staggering annual growth rate of 121%.
Unlike LG's monopoly on OLED TVs, Samsung has become the top shipper of OLED monitors for the quarter with a market share of 36%. Samsung's main shipping model is the 49-inch monitor, which is only 20% more expensive than the same size LCD monitor, thus offering an extremely high cost-performance ratio that has won the favor of consumers. Samsung plans to expand its 27-inch and 31.5-inch OLED monitors in Q2, expected to continue leading the market.
TrendForce forecasts that with the launch of new models from various brands in Q2, the quarterly growth rate will reach 52%, and the total shipments for the first half of the year could reach 500,000 units.
